Other Programs that assist
First-Generation Students
It is important that students are aware of the programs available that will assist in their journey to higher education. Every institution has different programs for these students. Some institutions have a summer bridge program that gives these students an introduction to college life. So, it is important to research what programs are available at the institution you or your student wants to attend. At the bottom, I have linked some higher education websites as examples.

Federal TRIO Programs
TRIO programs are designed to help students in need financially, first-generation students and students with disabilities. Most institutions have programs that support these students so please make sure you check at the institution you attend.
TRIO Upward Bound
These federal programs work with high school students who are underrepresented, students with disabilities, and students who may be homeless or are a part of the foster care system. These programs provide academic services like tutoring, counseling, and mentoring that will help these students with their future endeavors.
